Judith Nyambura Mwangi is a force to reckon in the Kenyan entertainment scene. Known by her stage name Avril, she was born and bred and schooled in Nakuru County.
Avril is more than just a singer; she’s a songwriter, actress, and all-around entertainer who once graced the roster of Ogopa Deejays, a powerhouse in Kenya’s music production for many renowned artists. Faith Kipyegon – Kenya’s Global Award-Winning Athlete

Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon, a name synonymous with excellence in middle- and long-distance races. Having grown up in Keringet Nakuru County, she has etched her name in the annals of athletic history.
Faith secured notable World Athletics Championships winning several gold medals and setting world records. In 2016 she won the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, won a gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics 1500 meters in 2020 and set a world record in the 1500 meters in 2023. Coming from an athlete’s family with both her parents being athletes, Faith has made remarkable achievements in her sports career and flown the Kenyan flag in global stages.

Nyokabi Macharia needs little to no introduction in Kenya’s film industry. She is among the few acclaimed Theatre, TV & Film personalities, and one of the star actors on ‘Country Queen’ – Kenya’s first series on Netflix streaming worldwide!

Steven Oduor Dede (DJ Shiti) – Witty Comedian Actor

DJ Shiti grew up in Nakuru where he lived with his parents at Kaptembwa estate. He started his acting career at Nakuru Players Theatre as a standup comedian and skit actor before relocating to Nairobi for greener pastures.
His career has been predominant in theatre and TV shows such as “Real House Wives of Kawangware” where he rose to fame among Kenyan house holds. DJ Shiti was also a stand-up comedian in the famous “Churchill Show” on NTV where he cemented his brand in the entertainment industry.
He is also an event MC and Music persona starring in several hits with renowned artists such as Naiboi and Bien of Sauti Sol. While he juggles his career in showbiz, his passion for acting remains steadfast as featured in the drama series of “Nurse Toto” and “Kamum” by Eddie Butita.
Betty Kyallo – Media Personality

Betty Kyallo was born in Nakuru memorial hospital in Gilgil where she partly grew up before relocating with her family to Nairobi and later Ongata Rongai after her father retired from the military as a general.
She is a renowned journalists and media personality having worked at KTN, K24 and TV47. Betty has hosted some of the famous TV shows such as Up-Close and Auto World.
Christine Kamau – Jazz Fusion Virtuoso

Music is a free therapeutic form of art and Christine Kamau, a luminary in Kenya’s music scene, understood the assignment.
Born and raised in Nakuru, Christine is a trumpeter and performing artist of exceptional caliber. Her music transcends boundaries, blending Jazz, Funk, Soul, Benga, and Chakacha into a harmonious fusion. Christine’s musical journey is a testament to her versatility and skill. Eddy Kimani–Versatile Actor and Advocate

Eddy Kimani is a multifaceted force in Kenya’s entertainment landscape whose roots span from Nakuru County. He’s not just an actor but a voice over artist, radio presenter, and a passionate advocate for mental health. He is also known for his impactful roles in films like “In a Better World,” “The Distant Boat,” and “Lusala,”
Kimani’s talent has left an indelible mark on the cinematic realm. Beyond the silver screen, Kimani’s advocacy for mental health stands as a testament to his commitment to societal well-being. In 2014, Eddy was appointed Director of Communication for Nakuru County Government where he served for three years.
Koigi wa Wamwere – Kenyan Freedom Fighter

Koigi wa Wamwere, born on December 18, 1949, in Rugongo, Nakuru District, is a renowned Kenyan figure. He gained prominence for his staunch opposition to both the Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel arap Moi regimes, enduring periods of detention as a result.
In 1974, he contested the Nakuru North Constituency seat under KANU, the sole legal party at the time, narrowly losing to Kihika Kimani. Following a critical article about Jomo Kenyatta, he was imprisoned for three years. In December 1978, after Kenyatta’s passing, newly-appointed President Daniel arap Moi released Wamwere, alongside Ngugi wa Thiong’o and Martin Shikuku, marking a significant turning point in his activism and advocacy for human rights.
